Romania has achieved a significant milestone in waste management, with 100% of municipal waste treated before disposal in the Bucharest-Ilfov region. This shift aligns the region with advanced European practices, as 55% of waste is diverted from landfills. Eco Sud SA's integrated waste management system has enabled the recovery of over 40,000 tons of recyclable materials annually. The new approach transforms the role of the Vidra landfill, which now only receives non-recyclable waste. This historic change marks a major step towards a circular economy in Romania.
