On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will cross Spain for the first time in over a century, coinciding with the Perseid meteor shower and a planetary alignment. The eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, with totality lasting up to 2 minutes and 18 seconds. Observers in Madrid will see about 99% coverage, while partial views will extend across Europe and parts of North America. NASA and ESA are preparing experiments to study the Earth's atmosphere and solar corona during the event.
