A rare solar eclipse began on Wednesday, visible in parts of Russia, northern Spain, and western Iceland, attracting thousands of spectators. The event started around 17:00 GMT in the Arctic region and was partially visible in northern Spain shortly after. In Iceland, despite cloudy skies, many gathered to witness the total eclipse, which lasted over two minutes in some areas. This phenomenon, the first visible in Reykjavik since 1433, drew around 75,000 tourists to Iceland. In Spain, hundreds gathered in fields, equipped with protective glasses, to experience the much-anticipated event.
