Eclipsă de Soare pe 12 august: spectacol rar la apus

This week, a unique celestial event will occur: a total solar eclipse coinciding with the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. The total eclipse will take place on August 12, 2026, with the Moon's shadow traveling from northern Siberia across the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, passing through Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, and parts of Spain and Portugal. The Perseids, known for their spectacular meteor displays, will be most visible around the night of August 12-13. This rare astronomical coincidence marks the first time a total solar eclipse aligns with a major meteor shower peak. The next total solar eclipse on August 12 will not occur again until 2045 and 2064.
