The Ministry of Finance extends the temporary 25% reduction of the excise duty on standard diesel from October 16 to 31, 2026, due to a new biweekly assessment. This measure aims to mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices on the population and the economy. The reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters, maintaining the effective excise at 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters during this period. Recent analyses show significant increases in international diesel prices and pump prices, prompting the continuation of the excise reduction. The ministry will keep monitoring market indicators to adjust the mechanism as needed.
