Hidroelectrica, Romania's largest electricity producer, is significantly reducing its profit forecast for the year due to water shortages and increased energy purchases. The revised net profit is projected at 3 billion lei, a 16% decrease from initial estimates, with revenues down 4% and expenses up 4%. Electricity production is expected to drop by 18% to 11.2 TWh, while market purchases will rise by 26% to 3.2 TWh. The company cites severe hydrological conditions and reduced river flows as key factors affecting production. Additionally, the unavailability of nuclear reactors has further strained the energy market, leading to increased operational costs and financial results.
