This sale, announced by CITR, aims to revive operations at the shipyard, which is crucial for Romania's industrial landscape. The Romanian government has contracted Rheinmetall to build four military vessels at the site by 2030, ensuring job creation and necessary investments. The state holds a 51% stake in the shipyard, while Damen previously held 49%. Damen's association with the Romanian state ended due to legal disputes, leading to insolvency proceedings and eventual bankruptcy in 2024.
