Italian group Ferrero has confirmed the opening of its first production facility in Romania, acquiring an existing factory in Timișoara. This investment aims to create a modern industrial unit that leverages local production traditions and skilled labor. Although financial details remain undisclosed, Ferrero intends to establish a long-term partnership with local authorities. This move marks a significant step for the Romanian economy, as Ferrero previously operated only in import and distribution, generating nearly 2 billion lei in business. The new facility could help reduce the substantial trade deficit in the sweets and snacks sector. Romania becomes the second country in the region, after Poland, where Ferrero invests in production capacity.
