Former Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan urged the public and large consumers to reduce energy use during peak hours due to low water levels affecting the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. He highlighted that the plant's shutdown is caused by insufficient water from the Danube, which is critical for cooling systems. Bolojan noted that the two reactors produced about 1,300 MW, nearly 20% of Romania's energy consumption. He warned that the most challenging time for the energy system is in the evening, between 8 PM and 11 PM, when demand peaks. He called for energy conservation during these hours to alleviate pressure on the system.
