The Senate approved a legislative proposal allowing buyers with pre-contracts for homes signed by July 31, 2025, to complete the purchase without increased VAT until September 30, 2026. This measure aims to protect buyers from the impact of a cyberattack on the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity. The law stipulates that individuals can purchase one home with a reduced VAT rate of 9% if it meets specific criteria. Additionally, a reduced VAT rate applies to buildings sold to municipalities for subsidized rental to economically disadvantaged families until October 1, 2026. The proposal will be debated by the Chamber of Deputies next.
