A section of the Transylvania Highway, between Biharia and Chiribiș, may open in December, ahead of schedule. The 28.55 km stretch has faced delays since its inception over two decades ago. Pro Infrastructura reports that construction is sufficiently advanced, with asphalt laid in most areas. The current contract anticipates completion by May 2027, but if progress continues without major issues, traffic could start by December 2026. The project has a complicated history, with multiple contracts and delays since 2004. The latest contract was awarded to Precon in April 2024, and construction has gained momentum since last summer. Opening this section would mark a significant milestone in the long-delayed highway project.
