The Danube River is experiencing a significant drop in water flow, reaching only 1,400 m³/s, which is one-third of its normal level for September. As a result, the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant will remain closed throughout the month. Authorities had previously hoped to restart at least one reactor by mid-September, but current forecasts indicate a continued decline in river flow, with projections suggesting it could drop to 1,300 m³/s. This situation poses serious concerns for the Romanian economy, as the Danube is facing one of its most challenging hydrological periods in recent years.
