Hungary's Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced that voluntary energy consumption reductions will no longer be necessary starting Friday. This decision follows a period of low water levels in the Danube, which had impacted electricity production, particularly at the Paks nuclear power plant. The government had previously urged citizens to conserve energy during peak hours, resulting in a significant reduction in electricity use. While the situation has improved, experts warn that ecological issues related to the Danube's low levels persist, affecting navigation and commercial shipping. Recent rainfall in the Danube basin is expected to help raise water levels soon.
