Caiac Smile is transforming the lives of people with disabilities in Romania through adaptive sports, promoting freedom of movement and changing societal perceptions. Founded by Ionuț Stancovici, the initiative began with kayaking and has expanded to include skiing and other seasonal sports, providing specialized equipment and free access to facilities. The organization has partnered with Aqua Carpatica to enhance accessibility in education and sports, impacting hundreds of lives annually. Their efforts have led to the adaptation of 21 beaches and accessibility improvements in 14 counties, fostering a culture of inclusivity and joy for individuals with disabilities.
