A peculiar case in Bucharest involved 25 grams of cannabis returned to a couple, only to be confiscated again by the gendarmerie shortly after. In July 2024, a couple arriving from the UK was stopped at Otopeni Airport, where the cannabis was found in their luggage. They claimed it was for medicinal use, but it was seized. DIICOT later ruled in their favor, returning the drugs, but within an hour, gendarmes stopped their vehicle and confiscated the cannabis again, leading to a criminal case against the man.
