The investigation revealed that Alexandru Munteanu's company was involved in exporting dual-use machinery to Russia, circumventing international sanctions. Munteanu and Evghenii Poliakov were charged by DIICOT for their roles in this operation, which was coordinated from Moscow. The machinery was intended for Belarus but was actually meant for Russian military use. Evidence showed that the exports were disguised through various countries to avoid detection. Despite attempts to deliver the equipment, authorities intervened, blocking shipments. Both Munteanu and Poliakov acknowledged the charges and are currently under judicial control, having avoided house arrest.
