CNAIR has received two bids for Lot 2 of the Electronic Road Tolling System, aimed at developing a control solution for vehicle monitoring. Vodafone Romania and Altimate lead the respective bids, with previous experience in CNAIR projects. The contract includes 250 fixed and 50 mobile control points, utilizing over 1,200 cameras for automatic license plate recognition. The project has faced delays due to legal challenges and requires government approval for a significant investment. The new toll system, replacing the current vignette, will charge based on distance traveled and vehicle specifications, promoting the 'polluter pays' principle. Implementation is expected to take 10 months, and the evaluation of bids is underway.
