Prosecutors have closed the case against Nicolae Crețu, former commander of NATO base Mihail Kogălniceanu, who was investigated for intellectual forgery. The decision was announced by the Ministry of National Defense. Crețu was accused of falsifying a unit order while serving as commander. In January 2025, he was promoted to air flotilla general by the Romanian president. Crețu was born on October 28, 1978, in Caracal, Olt County, and was in charge of the base hosting NATO troops at the time of his promotion.
