Corneliu Costinescu, a significant figure in Romanian football and former vice president of the Romanian Football Federation, passed away on his 91st birthday. His career spanned over four decades, during which he contributed to the development of football in Bacău, including founding the team Știința Bacău and serving as president of Sport Club Bacău. He was also involved in the Romanian Football Federation from 1991 to 2005. Costinescu's dedication to football came at a personal cost, as he often prioritized his career over family. His funeral is scheduled for October 4, 2026, in Bacău.
