Dumitru Marcu, a key figure in Romanian football and a former player for Universitatea Craiova, has passed away, leaving a significant legacy. Known as "Motoreta," he played for eight years at the club, winning two Romanian championships and two Romanian Cups. His contributions to the team during its golden era are fondly remembered by fans. Marcu also represented the national team, earning 16 caps and scoring three goals, including two in a historic 9-0 victory over Finland in 1974 World Cup qualifiers.
