Doi foști candidați AUR la alegerile locale din 2024, arestați preventiv după violențele de la mitingul ciobanilor

Following the violent protests by shepherds on September 15, two individuals linked to the AUR party were arrested. Both had run for local council positions in the upcoming elections. The Bucharest Tribunal ordered preventive detention for them. A total of 37 people were detained after police raids on September 22. One of the arrested, Valentin Stoica, allegedly assaulted journalists and was found with marijuana. Another, Auraș Mirel Andone, is accused of breaching police barriers and damaging a police vehicle. AUR's vice president stated the party was not involved in organizing the protest but acknowledged members' right to express their views. Other AUR members were also present at the protest, with some participating actively while others observed from a distance.
