Two individuals allegedly attempted to steal metal components from sunken barges in the Danube to raise water levels for the Cernavodă nuclear plant. Police found no missing parts or signs of tampering. A criminal case for attempted theft has been opened. Four barges were sunk to maintain water levels for Reactor 2, which may shut down soon due to low water levels. Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu stated that previous estimates on operational time for the plant are no longer valid due to a created obstacle affecting water flow. There is no risk of blackout, but energy imports will increase.
