Mihail Petrini-Galatz was Romania's first professor of dermatology and venereology, and he founded the histology department. He established the Filaret Hospital, now known as the Marius Nasta Institute, alongside Dr. Ioan Cantacuzino. Born in Galați in 1947, he studied medicine in Paris and returned to Romania to advance medical education. Petrini-Galatz initiated the first dermatology courses in Romania and created a significant dermatology clinic at Colțea Hospital. He also contributed to tuberculosis research and held various academic and political positions, including director of the Sanitary Service. He passed away in 1926, leaving a lasting legacy in Romanian medicine.
