Doar 1,7% dintre români mai muncesc după pensionare

A Eurostat analysis reveals that only 1.7% of Romanians work after retirement, indicating a rapid exit from the labor market. Romania is among the European countries with the fastest transition to retirement, with 84% of respondents ceasing work upon reaching retirement age. In contrast, about 13% of EU citizens continue working after retirement. The case of Olimpia Cojocaru, who retired at 50 after 31 years of work, exemplifies this trend. Italian media highlight that many Romanians retire much earlier than their European counterparts, while a significant portion of retirees in Europe choose to remain active for additional income or personal fulfillment.
