The DNA has initiated criminal proceedings against Mihai Chirica, the mayor of Iași, for abuse of office with serious consequences. He is accused of approving a payment of over 2 million lei for a fictitious purchase of fuel, which resulted in significant financial loss. Additionally, nine other officials from the Iași City Hall are also under investigation for complicity in this abuse and intellectual forgery. The case stems from the disappearance of over 500 tons of fuel from the state reserve, with Chirica being questioned as a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
