The High Court clarifies that unused vacation days do not automatically expire after 18 months. Employees can carry over their leave for up to 18 months, but only if they were not given the opportunity to take it. If employees had the chance to use their vacation but chose not to, they lose the right to compensation. Financial compensation for unused leave is only available upon termination of employment, provided the employer did not allow the employee to take their leave.
