The technical director of Nuclearelectrica, Emil Macovei, stated that measures on the Danube have extended the Cernavodă plant's operation by two to three days. However, if water levels continue to drop, Reactor 2 may also need to be shut down. Currently, Reactor 1 is already offline, and both reactors typically provide about 20% of Romania's electricity. Macovei noted that the situation depends on hydrological forecasts, which indicate a continued decrease in water levels. The restart of Reactor 1 could take 24 to 48 hours once conditions normalize.
