Diesel excise duty reduction to remain in place until the end of September

The Ministry of Finance confirmed the continuation of a 25% reduction in diesel excise duty until the end of September, aimed at easing fiscal pressure on fuel prices. This measure, effective from September 16 to 30, follows a previous reduction and is part of a mechanism that adjusts based on international market fluctuations. The current excise duty rate will remain at 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters. The analysis shows significant increases in diesel quotes and pump prices, prompting this intervention to mitigate the impact on transport and logistics costs. Gasoline prices are also nearing 10 lei per liter, with varying prices across different stations.
