The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) is launching a significant campaign to issue tax assessments for undeclared income from 2021 to 2024. This initiative is based on data obtained through automatic information exchange among EU member states, aiming to enhance tax compliance. The process will be phased, starting with 2021 income and potentially affecting hundreds of thousands of individuals, including many Romanians living abroad. Those who have not declared their foreign income may receive notifications or assessments, even if they have fulfilled their tax obligations in other countries. ANAF has already begun issuing decisions for 2021, and taxpayers are encouraged to clarify their tax situations promptly.
