Diana Buzoianu, despre închiderea reactoarelor de la Cernavodă: „Suntem în fața unuia dintre cele mai severe episoade de secetă din ultimii mulți ani”

Romania is experiencing one of the worst droughts in recent years, leading to the shutdown of both nuclear reactors at Cernavoda. Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu stated that the low water levels in the Danube were anticipated weeks in advance. The National Institute of Hydrology warned about the historical drought conditions, with current water flow nearing critical historical lows. Buzoianu emphasized that climate change is increasingly affecting communities, necessitating prioritization of adaptation measures. She noted that the current drought exceeds the capacity for interventions like dredging the Danube, as the issue is not solely local but also influenced by conditions in neighboring countries.
