Deținerea de droguri pentru consum propriu: Parchetul General se opune proiectului care înlocuiește pedepsele penale cu amenzi

The General Prosecutor's Office opposes a legislative proposal to decriminalize drug possession for personal use, suggesting it could weaken drug prevention efforts. The proposal, introduced by three senators, aims to replace criminal penalties with fines ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 lei. Prosecutor Cristina Chiriac highlighted potential public health risks, especially for minors, and emphasized the importance of maintaining penalties to aid in identifying drug distributors. The proposal also includes provisions for supervised consumption spaces in medical facilities. Current laws impose prison sentences for drug possession, contrasting with the proposed fines.
