DIICOT has investigated Alexandru Munteanu and Evgeni Polyakov for allegedly violating EU sanctions against Belarus by facilitating the export of machinery potentially used for military purposes. Following surveillance, both were detained for questioning, where Polyakov detailed their operations involving heavy machinery exports to Belarus via Kazakhstan and Germany. Despite initial attempts to secure export licenses, they resorted to circumventing regulations. The court has placed them under judicial control, allowing them to remain free but imposing restrictions on their movements and requiring regular check-ins with authorities. Both have acknowledged their actions, citing financial pressures as a motive.
