Descoperirea care ar putea salva milioane de oameni. Tratamentul unei boli mortale, simplificat
A new single-dose malaria drug, cabamiquine, could revolutionize treatment globally, according to researchers from the University of Dundee. This compound simplifies administration for both prevention and treatment of malaria, a disease that affects millions worldwide. Current statistics show around 282 million cases and 610,000 deaths in 2024, partly due to increasing drug resistance. Early studies indicate that cabamiquine, when combined with pyronaridine, is effective and safe for adults and adolescents. Further testing is planned for larger studies and pediatric patients.
