Descoperire spectaculoasă în Creta: craniul unui rinocer cu două coarne, vechi de 8 milioane de ani

A fossilized rhinoceros skull, dating back 8-8.5 million years, was found in the UNESCO Global Geopark of Sitia, Crete. This specimen belongs to a species that lived in Western Eurasia during the late Miocene and may provide insights into past climates and ecosystems. The discovery followed months of field research by a team of paleontologists. Despite some erosion, well-preserved elements, including molars, were recovered, aiding in understanding the animal's diet and age. This find contributes to knowledge about prehistoric life in Crete, linking it to broader Mediterranean ecosystems.
