Remains of a pregnant woman and her fetus, dating back 9,000 years, were found in a cave on a small island in Sweden. The discovery was made by archaeologist Alexander Roesen Sjostrand, who has been excavating in the area since 2023. The young woman is believed to have died between 7,000 and 10,000 years ago, with 9,000 years being the most likely estimate. The findings suggest that a population settled on the island shortly after it emerged from the Baltic Sea, indicating more than just exploratory expeditions.
