Descoperire neașteptată. Plasticul din pungi se transformă în benzină și motorină
Researchers at Oak Ridge National Laboratory have developed a method to convert polyethylene into gasoline-like fuels using molten salts. This innovative approach combines polyethylene with aluminum chloride salts, acting as both a reaction medium and catalyst. The process operates at lower temperatures than traditional methods, achieving a gasoline yield of about 60%. The team aims to improve the stability of the catalytic system, which is currently affected by moisture absorption. If successful, this technology could enhance U.S. energy security and industrial competitiveness by utilizing waste materials.
