Descoperire genetica: 36 de gene legate de TOC si ticuri
Scientists have identified 36 genes that significantly increase the risk of developing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and chronic tic disorders, including Tourette syndrome. This research, led by Rutgers University and published in Nature Neuroscience, analyzed genetic data from nearly 4,000 individuals diagnosed with OCD, chronic tics, or both. Previously, only four genes were confirmed to be linked to these conditions. The study highlights the genetic overlap between OCD and tic disorders, with about half of those with chronic tics also exhibiting obsessive-compulsive behaviors. The identified genes are associated with brain circuits involved in impulse control and habit formation, potentially paving the way for personalized treatments and new drug targets.
