Descoperire arheologică sub calea ferată: 23 de situri și peste 500 de morminte preistorice, descoperite pe traseul Caransebeș-Lugoj
A significant archaeological discovery was made along the future Caransebeş-Lugoj railway route, revealing 23 sites and over 500 prehistoric graves. The findings, conducted by the Vasile Pârvan Institute of Archaeology, showcase a history of habitation in the region spanning over three millennia. Notably, a Bronze Age necropolis was uncovered at Sacu, containing cremation graves and artifacts indicating connections with distant communities. Additional sites revealed settlements from various historical periods, enriching the understanding of the Banat area's past. Research continues as part of a railway modernization project.
