Deputaţii greci au votat ridicarea imunităţii fostului comisar european Dimitris Avramopoulos, anchetat de parchetul belgian pentru presupusa lui implicare în scandalul Qatargate
Greek lawmakers have voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of former European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos, who is under investigation in the Qatargate scandal. Avramopoulos, a member of the New Democracy party, stated he would not contest the immunity removal. The investigation involves his alleged ties to the NGO Fight Impunity, linked to the scandal. He claims his participation was legal and properly declared, having received €73,000 for his services. The Qatargate scandal erupted in December 2022, involving corruption allegations against several individuals, including former MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri and former Vice President of the European Parliament Eva Kaili. Qatar and Morocco are accused of orchestrating a corruption network within the European Parliament.
