Depozitele în lei ale populației au scăzut în august

In August 2026, the population's deposits in lei decreased by 0.4% compared to July, while foreign currency savings increased. The National Bank of Romania reported that lei deposits reached 269.617 billion lei, marking a 7% annual increase but only 0.8% in real terms. Conversely, foreign currency deposits rose by 0.2% to 152.07 billion lei, with a 9.1% annual increase in lei. Credit in foreign currency surged by 17% compared to August 2025, while total credit increased by 0.9% from July. Government credit also saw a rise of 1.3% from the previous month and 13.2% year-on-year.
