Denis Popescu and Vlad Mihalache were eliminated in the semifinals of the 100m butterfly at the European Swimming Championships in Paris. Popescu finished sixth in his semifinal with a time of 51.67 seconds, ranking 12th overall. Mihalache placed eighth in the first semifinal, clocking 52.40 seconds, which put him in 16th place overall. The final qualifying time was 51.44 seconds, achieved by Edward Mildred. The semifinals were won by Noe Ponti and Kristof Milak.
