Defrișările au scăzut cu 15% la nivel global
Global deforestation slowed last year, with 7 million hectares lost, a 15% decrease from 2024. However, this improvement may not last due to worsening conditions in Central Africa and the El Niño phenomenon. The report highlights that agricultural and mining activities remain the main drivers of deforestation. While Brazil has seen some progress under President Lula, concerns arise over potential setbacks from new leaders in Colombia and Peru. The Congo basin experienced significant deforestation, reaching 2.4 million hectares. Despite a global decline in forest degradation, the world is still off track to meet the 2030 deforestation elimination goal, with El Niño posing additional risks for tropical forests.
