Deficitul scade, dobânzile cresc: statul plătește în plus pe datorie de peste două ori cât economisește la salarii
The budget execution for the first nine months of 2026 shows a significant deficit reduction, primarily driven by increased taxes and European funds. The consolidated budget deficit reached 78.3 billion lei, down from 102.47 billion lei last year. Revenue rose by 11.9%, largely due to a 24.8% increase in VAT collections. While personnel expenses decreased, interest payments surged, indicating higher debt costs. Investments increased significantly, mainly funded by European sources, while national funding declined. The Finance Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining the deficit target and ensuring new expenditures are covered by certain revenues.
