Moldova faces an electricity deficit on Tuesday, lasting four hours, due to insufficient energy from Ukraine and Romania. Energocom forecasts a total shortfall of 229 MWh during peak hours. The government has proposed a state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sectors for 60 days, starting September 26. Approximately 59% of Moldova's electricity needs this winter will be covered by imports, with peak demand estimated at 400-450 MW. Natural gas supplies are secured, but international prices pose financial risks. Water shortages in the Nistru and Prut rivers may impact water supply and hydroelectric production. The emergency declaration aims to ensure energy and water supply continuity.
