A series of equipment failures in air traffic control systems led to significant flight cancellations and delays at major airports in New York and the East Coast. The issues began with frequency problems in Philadelphia, causing a ground stop at Newark, Philadelphia, and Teterboro airports. Soon after, JFK and LaGuardia also faced ground stops. Boston's airport experienced delays due to excessive traffic. The FAA reported numerous flight cancellations, with Newark seeing at least 215 flights affected. Many international flights were redirected, and several planes were left circling in hopes of landing.
