Decizie istorică pentru șampania franceză, după valurile de căldură
French authorities have allowed champagne producers to create sparkling wines with up to 15% alcohol, a historic change due to extreme heat. The early harvest this year was prompted by high temperatures accelerating sugar accumulation in grapes. Despite the challenges, the harvest is expected to yield excellent wines. Additionally, temporary relaxations on cheese production rules have been implemented due to heat impacts on pastures. Climate change concerns are growing among growers, with predictions that early harvests may become the norm in the next 10-15 years. The alcohol limit change will only affect a few producers, as most typically remain below 12%.
