A total of 879 individual applications have been abandoned, covering issues like treatment of opposition figures, repressive legislation, and freedom of expression. While ECHR continues to address cases related to Russia's wars in Ukraine and Georgia, it emphasizes that the decision to stop reviewing these applications does not absolve Russia of its international human rights responsibilities. The court noted that significant judicial resources required for individual cases are not justified, but it may reopen cases if circumstances change.
