The legal dispute over funding for the 2026 Sports Agenda in Sibiu has concluded, with the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal rejecting the request from Marius Vecerdea, organizer of the Sibiu Open, to suspend the local council's funding decision. The controversy began in May when Vecerdea contested the ineligibility of two projects he submitted, which were rejected due to a prior litigation with the municipality. Despite his arguments, the council approved the Sports Agenda without funding for the Sibiu Open. Following a failed initial court ruling, the appeal was also dismissed, confirming the council's decision and allowing the planned projects to proceed as scheduled.
