The Danube's flow at Romania's entry is currently about 1,650 cubic meters per second, expected to drop to 1,500 mc/s in early August. This level is significantly lower than the July average of 4,750 mc/s. Similar conditions were noted in 2005, and the lowest recorded flow was in 1985 at 1,400 mc/s. Due to low water levels, irrigation restrictions are in place in the Călărași–Cernavodă sector, and Reactor 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant has been shut down to support Reactor 2. Hydrologists warn of ongoing severe drought across the Danube basin, with no immediate relief in sight. While Austria may see rain, it won't significantly affect Romanian flow rates. Algal blooms are being monitored but remain within normal limits. Several regions in Romania are experiencing low river flows affecting irrigation, though there are currently no restrictions on water supply for the population.
