Debitul Dunării a scăzut la nivel record la Porțile de Fier

The Danube's flow at Romania's entry has dropped to 1,350 cubic meters per second, the lowest recorded since the operation of the Iron Gates hydroelectric plants. This level is below the previous record of 1,474 mc/s from September 2003. Hydrological forecasts suggest that the flow may continue to decrease in the coming days, potentially reaching around 1,300 mc/s. The low water levels are impacting energy production, leading to a controlled shutdown of Unit 2 at the Cernavodă nuclear power plant and reduced output from the Iron Gates hydroelectric plants. Since August 1, Romania has been in an energy alert state, relying on other sources and imports to cover production deficits.
